Job Title: Front Desk Receptionist

Basic Purpose of This Job

Schedules patients for appointments with the doctors and checks patients in and out at the time of the visit by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Treats patients with respect and sensitivity and exhibits behavior which projects a caring and compassionate attitude.
  • Answers phone calls and directs them to the appropriate person. Prioritize emergency calls and forward to appropriate personnel immediately.
  • Pages physicians when necessary to confer with other physicians regarding mutual patients.
  • Take messages from patients and forward them to a Medical Assistant (M.A.) for handling. Forwards messages requesting medication refills along with the patient’s chart to the M.A. for processing.
  • Schedule appointments with the physician and enters date and time into computerized scheduler.
  • Greets patients and checks them in for their appointment.
  • Scans and uploads patient intake forms and insurance cards to patient’s medical record. Instruct patient on the forms to be completed and signed. Collect co-pay. Enter patient and insurance information into the system.
  • Verify the patient information and insurance information are current and accurate on return visits. Collect co-pay.
  • Checks patient out after visit, and schedules additional visits if applicable. Prints patient education or information ordered by physician.
  • Makes reminder calls for appointments scheduled the following day.
  • Contacts patients who do not arrive for their scheduled appointment and reschedule if necessary.
  • Processes medical records requests and sends them to requesting party or entity.
  • Assist M.A.’s, physicians, and other personnel as requested to maintain facility efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills; bilingual is a plus.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience (Preferred): One to two years of experience in a medical office.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately, with attention to detail.
  • Able to demonstrate independent judgment and initiative.

Job Title: Medical Assistant
Reports To:  Clinical Manager/Physicians

Basic Purpose of This Job

The Medical Assistant works closely with an assigned physician in caring for patients and performs all necessary duties and procedures for patient care, as directed.

Areas of Responsibilities:

Patient Support

  • Triage patients and administer appropriate treatment under the direction of a physician or other medical provider staff.
  • Prepare examination room for each patient visit; ensure adequate supplies and appropriate instruments are available and room is cleaned after every patient.
  • Greets and rooms patient, takes and records all vitals to detect deviations and assess the condition of the patient. Documents patient history, medication, and all other information in patient electronic medical records. Review patient information and questionnaires to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Order prescriptions electronically or call pharmacies with prescription and/or refill.
  • Instructs patients on pertinent information essential to their care and treatment, including handouts and medical instructions.
  • Complies with OSHA and HIPAA policies while performing all duties.
  • Schedule physical therapy, imaging, or clinic appointments as necessary. Obtain prior authorization for these as needed.
  • Prepares a patient list for the day, pull charts and x-rays, and other necessary reports for providers.
  • Remove sutures, aspirate fluids, prepare cast materials, cut/saw casts, remove pins, remove sutures, change bandages, change wound vac, and any other procedures requested by the physician.
  • Empty, clean, and refill instrument trays. Restock rooms. Unpack orders as they are received or as soon as possible.
  • Answer phones and take messages as needed.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • One to two years of experience in a medical office (preferred)

Job Title: Medical Billing/Collections Clerk

Reports To:  Manager/Physicians

Basic Purpose of This Job
Process electronic claims. Relieves and assists other positions as required by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Processes electronic claims in a timely manner, submitting claims daily.
  • Reviews claim rejections, makes corrections and resubmits the claim(s) to the correct payer.
  • Communicate with physicians if there is a lack of documentation.
  • Reviews reports to identify denials and edits; suggest action plans to eliminate these denials/edits in the future and determines appropriateness for appeal.
  • Prepares and processes claims to be mailed to other carriers.
  • Post patient and insurance accounts receivable
  • Updates/Adds new insurance carriers in the PM.
  • Review coding information of diagnosis and procedure billed.
  • Responds timely and accurately to all incoming correspondence and inquiries from payers, patients, and other appropriate parties while remaining HIPAA compliant.
  • Receives and answers inquiries or complaints concerning patient accounts, gathers information for timely resolution of issues.
  • Performs Self-Pay surgery estimates and collections.
  • Establishes payment arrangements based on practice guidelines if necessary.
  • Prepares refund requests for any monies due to patient or insurance company as required.
  • Accurate attention to detail and the ability to work independently while establishing priorities.
  • Audit missing office/surgery charges and provide a list to the Providers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of coding and billing
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Applications and Electronic Medical Records

Job Title: X-Ray Technician
Reports To: Clinical Manager/Physicians
FLSA Status: PRN/Non-Exempt

Basic Purpose of This Job
Obtaining x-rays of patients and reporting results to Western Slope Orthopaedics (WSO) physicians.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Escort the patient and inform the patient of what x-ray(s) will be taken.
  • Prepare and position the patient for the x-ray, using safety precautions while positioning the patient.
  • Capture clear, accurate x-rays of the view(s) ordered by the physician.
  • Verify x-ray is stored electronically.
  • Upon patient request, provide a copy of the x-ray on CD.
  • Clean equipment daily.
  • Needed repairs are to be reported to the Clinic Manager immediately.

Requirements

  • Licensed Radiologic Technician (RT)
